From full-time job archivists to those who need to occasionally preserve and organize special collections, the archives SIG is a meeting to talk about the art and craft of working with archival materials. Individuals from libraries, archives, cultural heritage institutions, and other places with historic documents are welcome to join the conversation.
The agenda will be set by the convener, and the discussion topics will be decided by the attendees on the day of the event. Possible topics for this meeting include:
- Time: managing time, making the most of the time of not enough staff, keeping track of time spent for budgeting, grants, etc.
- Visitors: managing (reading rooms, requests for scans, etc.), marketing (attracting visitors); keeping track of visitors
- Collaboration: successful (or not) collaborations with other institutions or archives
- Websites: designing, managing, making, updating, etc., sharing our best practices and tools for building and maintaining sites.
There is no cost to join the meeting, and we ask that you please register in advance. Registration is open to both Southeastern members and non-members.
