The DigPres SIG will focus on strategies, activities, and technologies relating to preserving digital content for the long-term. The topic for this meeting is file naming (and renaming!). Digital preservation starts the moment files are created. Establishing, documenting and adhering to some basic rules and conventions can help ensure your files can be understood, opened and preserved. We’ll discuss good file naming practices and Jen Palmentiero will provide a live demonstration of the free tool Southeastern uses to bulk rename files.
